چکیده

Michael J. Connelly, MEMBER SPIE University of Limerick Optical Communications Research Group Limerick, Ireland Abstract. Full-field optical coherence tomography OCT using a complementary metal-oxide semiconductor CMOS camera with an integrated a digital signal processor DSP is demonstrated. The CMOSDSP camera employed is typically used in machine vision applications and is based on an array of 1024 1024 direct readout pixels that are randomly addressable in space and time. These characteristics enable the camera to be used as a fast full-field detector in carrier-based optical metrology systems. The integrated DSP facilitates basic signal processing including real-time filtering and undersampling. The optical setup used to implement this OCT method is composed of a free-space Michelson interferometer and a superluminescent diode SLD light source, with an electromechanical shaker for depth scanning. Unlike classical OCT approaches, however, the setup does not require any electromechanical device for lateral scanning. A 64 30 pixel region of interest was imaged at 235 frames/s and sampled in depth, corresponding to a volumetric measurement of 875 410 150 m. Measurements carried out on a simple calibration specimen indicated lateral and axial resolutions of 14 and 22 m, respectively. The presented approach offers an inexpensive and versatile alternative to traditional OCT systems and provides the basis for a functional machine vision system suitable for industrial applications. © 2006 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers. Random depth access full-field heterodyne low-coherence interferometry utilizing acousto-optic modulation and a complementary metaloxide semiconductor camera.

With analog scanning, time-domain low-coherence interferometry lacks precise depth information, and optical carrier generation demands a linear scanning speed. Full-field heterodyne low-coherence interferometry that uses a logarithmic complementary metal-oxide semiconductor camera, acousto-optic modulation, and digital depth stepping is reported, with which random regions of interest, lateral a...

Multipoint laser Doppler vibrometry using holographic optical elements and a CMOS digital camera.

A laser Doppler vibrometer (LDV) is described in which holographic optical elements are used to provide the interferometer reference and object illumination beams. A complementary metal-oxide semiconductor camera, incorporating a digital signal processor, is used to carry out real-time signal processing of the interferometer output to allow multipoint LDV to be implemented.

New Swept-Source OCT for Glaucoma: Improvements and Advantages

When we refer to sweptsource optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT), “swept source” refers to the type of laser incorporated into the device. Instead of the superluminescent diode laser typical of conventional spectral domain OCT (SD-OCT), SS-OCT uses a short-cavity swept laser. Although the swept-source laser has a wavelength centered at approximately 1 μm, the laser actually changes, because i...

Angular high-speed massively parallel detection spectral-domain optical coherence tomography for speckle reduction.

We demonstrate speckle reduction based on angular compounding using parallel-detection spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT). An ultrahigh-speed two-dimensional complementary metal-oxide semiconductor camera acquired angular and spectral interference fringes (128 × 1024 pixels) simultaneously at 15,000 frames/s for a single lateral point. A signal-to-noise ratio improvement of 8 dB...
